This is number one on my list of Things My Parents Did To Me That I Will Never Do To My Children. Even though it's probably one of the more normal aspects of my childhood. Including the bit where my mom threatened me with a psychiatrist, as though that was the worst thing possible.

Ironically, it's the sister who never had issues with my parents who ended up with the mental health problems.
